The fantastical movie-prop city of Ghazali Cinema Town in Iran has been renamed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
Ghazali Cinema Town, which has been used as a setting of old Tehran in many historical movies and TV series, has been renamed to Iran Cinema and Television Town.
The director of IRIB, Abdol-Ali Ali-Asgari, decided to make the move to reflect a more modern update of the venue, announced Kamal Feizabadi, the director of the town.
As an homage to the move, busts of the five stars of ‘Hezar Dastan’, Ali Hatami’s popular TV series that was filmed in the town during the 1980s, are due to be erected in the town, Ali-Asgari added.
The five actors whose lifelikeness will be appropriated in the vicinity include Jamshid Mashayekhi, Ezzatollah Entezami, Mohammad-Ali Keshavarz, Ali Nasirian and Davoud Rashidi.
Other sculptures to be setup in the future to reflect the honor of past patronages of the pseudo-city will include actor Khosro Shakibai, make-up artist Abdollah Eskandari and other film celebrities.
